Our COVID-19 response efforts

In the past several weeks, millions of workers have been sent home without pay. For the most precarious, that means evictions, utility shut-offs, payments, and other economic catastrophes. That's why NC Piedmont DSA has partnered with Mutual Aid Carrboro to create the COVID-19 Mutual Aid Relief Fund. Money given to this fund will be used to support workers facing serious disruption because they've been kept home without pay.

So far, we have raised over $70,000, all of which will go directly to local workers in the form of $150 grants to cover urgent needs — however, need has far outpaced fundraising so far, so we are continuing to raise as much as we can so as to help as many workers as possible. If you can, please consider donating to the fund.

Our members are also involved in many organizing projects to try to help workers gain much-needed material support, such as PPE on the job and rent cancellation for those who have lost wages. Please contact us if you’d like to get involved with any of this work.
